ABC Christmas - R is for.....

This fortnight at...

Photobucket

R is for.................

'Recycling, Ribbon or Rhinestones'

Pop over to ABC Christmas Challenge to see Carissa's Recycling tutorial
(Oh, how I LOVE Recycling in my card making!)

We have a great sponsor again...

Who have an awesome selection of digital stamps, papers & more,

and our Winner will receive 3 digital stamps of their choice.

Of course I had to go with the Recycling 'R'

and turned this...

into this...

I've just got to think of something to put in it now!

I've used a gorgeous image from our sponsor called Santa's Helper - isn't she sweet!
She's coloured with Promarkers and layered onto papers from DCWV Rose-Tinted Christmas ...I bought 3 of these stacks a couple of years ago and have just started my last one for this card :(

I also managed to get a few challenges into this little box too.......

Top Tip Tuesday #49

What is Shabby Chic?

This week's Challenge will be

...Shabby Chic...

******************************************************

This week's awesome Sponsors...

Random.Org Prize.....

Prize:

Welcome to Digital Delights, a magical place filled with digital stamps from all walks of life. We have a wide range of digital stamps which are delivered straight to your email 24/7!! Don't forget about our custom blog design and custom watermarks, all of which are fantastically priced.

***************************************************************

Top Tipper Prize.......

is offering any 1 of their CDs!

We live in France. My daughter and I design the CD's. I started crafting about 20 years ago with glass painting and decorated furniture then started making cards for friends and family. We decided to design our own CD's as there was not much craft materials around when we moved here. We use living Artists for all of our CD's now and have recently shown our CD's on Create and Craft TV

So.......What exactly is Shabby Chic???

This tutorial is a little different to our usual offerings - Each member of the playing team this week has written a few words and added an inspirational picture of what THEY envisage Shabby Chic to be.

The theory behind this is that unless you are familiar with the term, Shabby Chic can be a little confusing....

We want to show that there are no definate 'rules' as there often are with other styles - we all know that Vintage is old, Retro is not quite as old and CAS is minimalistic - but what on earth does Shabby Chic mean...

This is my Shabby Chic offering for this week and I must admit to not doing a card specifically in the style of Shabby Chic before - I've done plenty of cards that were Shabby so added the word 'Chic' on the end to make it seem like I've known what I was doing.......is that allowed???

But after looking into the meaning of Shabby Chic for this week's Team Tutorial I must admit it doesn't scare me so much any more :)

I've used lots of elements that I've mentioned in my little write-up on TTT, however this card was very much a 'suck-it-and-see' project - plenty of the elements didn't start out the colours they are now - I'd do them with something and then add a bit of something else!

For example the plywood 'HOME' (picked up from The Works last week, a pack of 'Family' words - about 20, for £2!) started out being distressed with some TH inks - light browns & blues, but then when it was on the card I felt it didn't tie in with my 'white-washed' vision so painted it with some watered down Brilliance Moonlight White Pigment Ink!!! I'd used the same ink to distress around the image and sentiment piece.
The 3 little round metal bits on the left and the rectangle piece bottom left of the picture came off an old T-Shirt I 'took apart' yonks ago!

The image I've used is from one of our sponsors over at TTT this week and is called - Time To Clean - isn't she sweet?
The sentiment is from Sentimental Sunday's and was one of the freebies they offer each week - take a look!

Some Challenges I'd like to enter my card into...

Crafty Catz - Metal & Lace

Stamptacular Sunday - Diva with Attitude!

Pile It On - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Crafting For All Seasons - Bingo ....Ribbon/Shine/Flowers

Stampin' Sisters in Christ - Choose 3 of... Ribbon/button/Brad/Charm/Hat Pin/Swirl/Popped-up Image

This week we are sponsored by......

and

We want to see a...

'Masculine Card'

Here's my offering for this week's challenge...

and my Top Tip to go with card is...

Always think odd!

The human brain likes to 'group' things, so when adding gems (or any other embellishment) always use odd numbers - that way the human eye will see one group of 3 rather than 2 groups of 2! This works for anything visual - crafting/gardening/etc.

To see more amazing Top Tips and great cards for the men in your life pop over to TTT now.

Don't forget we want YOU to share your Top Tips with everyone too!

Less is More....

It was my hubby's B.day on Wednesday and I wanted to enter Less is More again - so I combined the two!

I tried to come up with a phrase where I could incorporate a 'Peach' as their theme this week is 'Fruity' - but I failed! Well failed to come up with one that I could show anyway!!!

So I went with a more obvious choice.....

I didn't photograph the inside - to be honest I only finished it Tuesday night so forgot! - but it read...
'I love you to the core'

You still have a few more hours to pop over to LiM and take a look around the fabby Fruity creations uploaded for this week.

and when you link it, adding (TIP) after your name, we will add you into the extra prize draw!

Here's my creation and Top Tip for this week....

Tip

Cut around elements of your image then place your Nestie and lift the cut sections over the edge - cut and some elements will be overlapping!

Tip #2! I coloured my white pearls with a dark blue Promarker and they didn't match the pale blue pin heads - so I coloured them too!
