I couldn't wait to start playing along with this week's Less is More Challenge - One layer, focusing on the Sentiment.
I love using Quotes on my cards so was more than happy to spend ages trawling the internet to find a 'Thank You' type quote I liked.
..."The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention"
- Oscar Wilde
I copied it into Word and used text boxes and fonts untill it looked good - it's surprising how long this actually takes before I get anything I'm happy with!
I then printed this onto Pearlised card and cut down to 10x10 blanks.
I then had the idea of running them through the Cuttlebug, each a different embossing folder.................................should I have?
I added some clear gems to each card to finish off.
As a set I like them - whether they are too 'fussy' for LIM I'll have to see what Chrissi & Mandi think!
Beautiful XOXO Zoe
ReplyDeleteWell I love 'em!
ReplyDeleteKathyk
What a FAB little set of cards, they look perfectly made!
ReplyDeleteThey aren't too fussy at all, as basically they are monochromatic, loads of scrummy white space
Its hard to tell at the angle of the pic, but I'm sure the sentiment is still easy to read
Simply and effective! Right up my street
thanks Carol

Hi Carol. Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog. Yes, the heart on my card is a stamp. I bought it in Florida last year and I'm certain its by Stampendous. Lx
ReplyDeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of these cards, but I would have preferred the areas around the sentiments to have remained unembossed.
Do you know the technique whereby you can emboss a card front but leave a section flat?
You die cut a shape large enough to contain the specific image or sentiment or whatever from sheets of card and stack enough together to make the equivalent of a Cuttlebug B plate.
Then you substitute this stack for one of your B plates and run it though the bug. Where the die cut hole is doesn't receive any pressure and so that area remains flat!
It might be interesting to try it.
Your cards are super as they are however... it's just an idea!

Gorgeous set of cards, well done.

Chrissie thanks so much for that technique - I was honestly thinking of doing this when I did the set but couldn't for the life of me work out how to do it without cutting a big hole out of my embossing folders!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS - I will try this :)
